1962-63 356T6 Super 75 engine. price/poss sale

Just a quick question. How much would a super 75 engine be worth. it dates from 60/61..

currently being cleaned up and new gaskets.. no end float on crank.. some tinwear has been powder coated.. still has original grey fan housing.. complete appart from Carbs and exhaust...

turns over nice with resistance on compression stages..

wondering if worth selling or keep for my 356 until i can sort the original engine.??

any help on price gratefully recieved..

Seems it is out of a T6 not a T5 as thought.

Engine number P705531 616/12 1600super

Built somewhere around 1962-63

Engine has been stripped to bottom end, (no end float nor play on big ends..Case not split). pistons and rings decoked. Valves removed from heads. heads decoked valves reseated and new seals.new pushrod seals and top end gaskets.. manifolds fitted.. fuel pump and dizzy fitted. oil lines connected. most tinware has been powder coated inc heater boxs.. fan shroud still in original grey paint and mesh grille at rear of fan.

I'm afraid the reason you have no replies is that it is impossible to value without seeing it running, knowing who rebuilt it (if it has been rebuilt), how many miles are on it since the rebuild and seeing some pics.
It could be anywhere between £500 and £5000?

Hendrik is correct, I don't think people would take the chance of spending the money without knowing just what they are buying. Years ago for a relativily small amount you could buy an engine for a spare and just take a chance. The cost to overhaul one properly must be in the region of £3 - 4K who knows what has been done correctly on yours without running it on a test stand?

I see PRS can supply fully rebuilt engines, they must buy core units and have all the experience to know what they are getting into. Might be worthwhile asking them but I imagine they would say an engine like yours might be excellent inside the cases or might be something else and value accordingly.

Hendrik is right this is the reason you have only a couple of replies.

Have a look on the 356 registry spares pages and you might get an idea in $ of what people are asking for engines in pieces.

Hendrik and Roy. The engine is being done by me .i was just after a rough idea . Trying to gauge if worth selling seperate or leaving it with our herbie replica.
