Hey Bootsey, that Patek would have been a good choice, I bought one 2 yrs ago, gone up 25%, it is my daily wearer, very reliable, durable, and stealth, ie no one knows the value so dont feel intimidated wearing it, like a big blingy watch.

Thanks for all the comments. I'm quite taken by the early Carrera. It's now on an original black Corfam strap and Heuer Buckle and it's getting a lot of wrist time.

Thomas, I notice that a few of the Heuer's are left handed, incl your lovely Silverstone, did they make more lefties than other most? As a Southpaw myself I thought this article over the w/e was interesting...

You'll find a lot of Heuers are 'lefties' but not designed for that purpose. Starting with the Calibre 11 movements it's the way they were! Main crown on left hand side of watch, chrono pushers on right.

My wife has her eye on a Richard Mille, although the one I looked at on the website was $525,000 - a bit rich for me ! - not quite sure how I'm going to break the news to her... maybe I'll go for the 'stand up who's going to get a Richard Mille.... no, no you can sit right back down' approach.

is the vintage sub a comex? - if it is I confess to being even more green

No, vintage sub is standard but excellent condition, lovely patina, matching hands and dial, it is the more desirable ft first then mtrs which is the very early one.

I wouldnt recommend the Richard Mille, mine has been back to the factory 3 times, each time it was away for 6wks, I have heard alot of horror stories about the brand, although it is one of the most technically beautiful watches I have ever seen.

Has anyone noticed the resurgence of the Hublot brand recently? Official sponsors for the World Cup & they were all over the Canadian GP last weekend.

There's an article on the CEO in Octane (I think) this month who was credited with saving Blancpain a while back. Apparently if he spots people in restaurants wearing one of his watches he picks up their tab!

Think they made a mistake choosing Diego Maradona as their brand 'ambassador' however...

Not particularly attractive watches imo.

Father in Law has an old-ish Omega Constellation and it has started playing up. It's had a new battery (from Omega) in the past couple of year - it cost £100 and 2 months away

It could clearly do with a "look see" but their past experience with someone other than Omega (this was in Dallas) was not good with the watch not coming back waterproof etc.

So, anyone know of a really good Omega place? It's between ipswich and Norwich so this may be one for Bootsy?

A few Tudor Heritage watches finally arrived on Friday at the Geneva Rolex store. A very nice watch, comfortable and well-made.

They come with a choice of black or grey dial. The grey dial is closer to the original 1968 Monte Carlo Tudor:




Tudor used a partnership with Porsche to promote this watch, the video even features a beautiful 910:
