Hello, from Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire

Post by Bash »

Hi Everyone
I am John, and a newbie to this forum. I am an avid motorsport fan especially rallying with Porsche’s and Mini’s! I am currently building a 911 Porsche rally car, although it may be a long term project! The basic shell is now prepared and painted, and I am slowly building the car a little at a time as finances allow.
I have some photo’s of the build so far that I can add if someone can guide me through the process!

Thanks for all of your kind comments. I originally purchased the car as a road going 1981 SC. I stripped it down to a bare shell and had it acid dipped and e-coated. A friend of mine, Ben Coles then did the shell prep, and a fine job he did too! I have moved a little further on from the photo’s now, having started to build an aircraft spec wiring loom, plumbing the brake pipes and fire system. I am also in the process of gathering the bits together to complete the rolling shell, having just taken delivery of some nice RSR rear short arms. I will be working in Paris for a couple of days, but I should be back at the weekend, volcanic ash permitting and will then add some more recent photo’s.
With regard to the engine and box, I am concentrating on the rolling shell currently and not thinking too much of the engine etc, but ultimately would like twin spark, Mechanical injection, however we will need to see how the funds are nearer the time!

Hi John and welcome.

The guys over on Impact Bumpers would love to know about your 3.0 RS rep I'm sure. I built one about 8 years ago, but it has passed on to pastures new. If there's anything you need to source give me a shout as I built an MSA 3.0 a few years ago and now rally a 2.5 ST replica.
