Gearing totally wrong for a rally car ... but find me a set up for something sensible ????

Without sumpguard (and very big brackets which I was re-engineering at the time) , it was 1320 or 1340kg from memory ..... I need to re-check ready to rally. Getting up to speed is not a problem .... it's the getting slowed down which can be interesting !! Car could be built 50 to 100kg lighter I would say , but it was the first off , to see if it would work ... and it does !

I would have said no ... not that quickly ! Getting faster, as I get used to it , but I would have said still slower than "Cortina pace" - I may be able to tell better after Manx event when have someone on similar tyres to compare too - and can possibly compare back to my previous times on Manx events .

Could be .....depends on lots of things .... driver ?? +++++
My old Cortina (sniff !) - 119 hp at wheels & 820 kg
928 - 300 at flywheel - guess 220 - 230 at wheels and say 1400 kg in rally trim.
Not much difference in p/w ratio ... guess who can brake later ?? etc.
All will come out of the wash in stage times ... but a big car and good 0 to 60 mph times does not equal fast stage times (necessarily).
Several of Manx stages this year are identical to ones I have done in Cortina , so a comparison of times MAY give indication ...... may not , depending on weather / state of roads / etc.

820kg with that hp is going to be quick! that's light... I've been racing a 1.5 riley over the last few years - about 920-950kgs and 100 - 110hp max.
...needless to say I don't see many cortina's! except either in the far distance or coming in the rear view mirror very quickly
