67S For Sale - selling at auction?

Post by 964RS »

Ok opening a discussion about my own car!

Think the thread says it all really -
http://www.ddk-online.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28412

I expected that the car would go to europe with the strength of the euro and it being LHD and not surprised most of the enquiries have come that way.

My plan was to send it to Olav at speedservice.nl in Born, Netherlands right on the German border as it would be in the perfect spot for euro buyers.

However I've been approached by Coys. I've also been approached by other auction houses but dismissed them. However Coys are really keen for it to be part of their main stage auction at Techno Classica in Essen in April.

Now I know this event is huge and the largest classic car show in europe but i've never thought about selling at auction before?

Has anyone any experience, good or bad and what do members think of the idea? Their fees seem really reasonable for sellers and have to say I'm quite tempted? I could take to olavs leave it there and then transport to Essen if it has not sold. If it does not go at auction then just take back to the Netherlands?

Any advice would be appreciated as this kind of thing is new to me :)

Good luck with your sale Jason, whichever way you sell it - just had a look at the speedservice website - your friend's got a fantastic looking 356A on there http://www.speedservice.nl/viewfoto.php ... 0718_1.JPG

Indeed it is.

You can be very 'attracted' to the 356 shape and almost what it represents of a different age entirely, or is my 22 years with my 911 too long?

The 911 shape spans such a time frame, the 356 seems short lived somehow.

Jason - you have an email on its way - you'll probably have one from Vic and a few others before long...

I would check customer funds are kept in escrow. Coy's have a chequered past although to be fair to them they put on good auctions

Well its off to Essen next week.

Not been overly enamoured by our auction friends but we will see. It was worth doing as its only an hour from Olav at Speedservice.nl where it was heading anyway and if it doesn't sell he will just go and collect it.

Its running sweet now and we finished off the bodywork touches that it needed (after the photos below were taken unfortunately).

Total911 came last week and did a whole days shoot on it so will be a nice little keepsake to have of the rollercoaster ride this one became.

Never expected it to all turn out like this when i got it but life goes in some funny directions sometimes.... :)

Anyway a couple of my cheapy camera final pics before its Auf Wiedersehen Pet

Looks like there`ll be a bit of competition, there`s a very similar car, also to be auctioned by Coys at Essen but the rarer `66S

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/cla ... arno/89683

Good luck with the sale.

Hi Jason

Saw your car on a trailer at Coys in Richmond today. Looks nice in the flesh. Good luck with the sale.

Hello,

I saw the 911S at Coys, lovely car. I would think highly desirable. Do we know how much it fetched?
