While we wait for the final bit of work to be done on the cams to finish the engine, we've started to rebuild the gearbox to RSR spec.
To re-cap we had already rebuilt the ZF diff, as pictured below,

and with the cases freshly chromated we started to put the gear cluster together with the new ratio's, the modified input shaft with
the collar and a wevo 'teddy bear'.

The gearbox is having an oil pump spray bar set up which works from two gears in the end casing, we are using the RSR oil pump
gear casing for the oil lines to the cooler, also pictured is an RS housing for the pump set up but no cooler.

You can see the spray bar running along the left side of the gears here,

holes spaced to match the gears

and then through into the diff casing for the crown wheel and pinion.

The selector forks are original RSR in that the shafts are threaded to ensure no movment in the fork and the bolts will be lockwired,
as are any bolts with a chance of loosening.

The diff especially looks cool as it sits in place for the final time after setting the pre-load and backlash.

The final piece of detail for the moment is the RSR breather which has a pipe that runs down the side of the casing.

Thanks for the comments guys, really do appreciate it. It's been a long hard slog but there's light at the end of the tunnel, honest
As for it all the stuff inside being hidden away, ah but I'll know it's in there......

Mike's RSR "continuation"
Absolutely brilliant! You and Neil make the perfect team Mike. I live my dreams through this thread and can't wait to see it/hear it running.
I have to deliver my engine to Neil for rebuilding at some point soon and it would be great to tie in with the first "firing up" of the RSR. I know you are cautious about setting time-scales but any idea what month might be likely?

Hi Tim, Neil's just waiting for the engine dyno to be shipped so I think we are looking at a couple of months.
The engine is ready to go apart from the cams which are waiting for the spark erosion man who's away sking at the moment
Then we are planning a firing up night, all invited so watch this space!
