I don't think you would buy that watch for the sum quoted.
Check John Corrs site he has a couple on there at the moment - around £4k from memory.
Re insurance - I recently changed from my old lloyds home and contents to Nationwide - premium was almost halved - cover more comprehensive and the best bit was I declared all my watches at my (fair) declared value with no additional cost, including an 1133b Monaco. It just took them a few hours to fax the underwriters.

Any idea how much this model goes for? Is it desirable? Breitling's don't seem too popular amongst you chronophiles, any reason? Certainly looks classy (to my eyes at least....!)

I have the exact same model/colour/vintage watch sat on my wrist right now, on a brown leather 'rally' strap, bought from John 6 months or so ago.
Mine is a '67 model, and is mint apart from a small amount of rather nice patina to the white chrono dials.
Breitlings are popular enough, i think this model will grow in popularity once the big big watch phase has passed, this model is a very subtle nice sized breitling, my wrists arnt huge so it works well for me.

Circa £1500 will get you a very nice one.

Lovely watch and probably the right size for my wrist which just won't take an IWC Big Pilot or one of the big Bremont's, unfortunately.
Yum! Now that is a lovely Breitling. I'm not so keen on the new ones - too bling-ling for me, but that is lovely. Smart, discreet and classy. I want one!

some of the big big watches were getting silly; i seem to remember something about a 60mm panerai? with that crown-guard on the case it would be getting on for 70mm across which is just huge
breit. above is really nice, loving the strap too! very classy piece you could almost wear as dress or sports
I've just bought this Heuer Montreal - the later one with a Valjoux 7750 movement. It's a far sized watch but not silly big as has been the modern trend.
7750 are deep movements so the cases that feature them always have a good depth and wear in a really nice position.
The qunadry now is whether or not to have the hands and markers relumed or leave the wabi!

I nearly bought it myself. Seemed pretty cheap to me.
gorgeous looking watch, and that 7750 is a real work-horse movement
i'd say leave it as-is; my only problem with fully restoring good fully working pieces like that (same as with cars) is that you'll never get that character back
