Why don't my headlights fit properly in the body?

Ideas please?

Probably because whoever fitted the head-light bucket into the wing welded it too far back.

You have to set the bucket into the wing and check the head-light fit with the seal for head-light to body fitted before you weld.

Next time you are at a show look to see how many cars haven't got their seals fitted for this reason.

^^^ Wot Paul said - bowls shouldn't be welded in place unless lights and seals are trial fitted first - took a fair bit of work to get mine right as putting the bowls in takes a fair bit of effort and dead easy to push them in too far

One other thing I have found is on quite a few repro lights the chrome rims dont have as much of a roll on the edge as the originals,you can carefully work the rolled edge around some more to gain quite a bit.
But as others have said,its critical to do it in bare metal,and to allow for paint and primer.
