Thanks Mr P - I'm over the moon with the look of it, and I'm sure I'll get used to the sound - I've no doubt that on full chat it will be the absolute dog's - it's just pootling along in traffic needs to be bearable as I end up doing that quite a bit every day.
I reckon I'll be able to tweak/play with the single-out sound anyway - maybe with inserts inside the pipe. Want to let it settle down a bit first though
Am doing a thread on the install on IB and will also post it onto the tech articles here on DDK

That's a good point about the wrapping breaking down - I could see that happening quickly
Went to my Mum's at lunchtime - it seems to be sounding better as I drive it more. The engine also seems to have lost a bit of torque but gained bigger lungs - that's what it feels like.
The sound is starting to be glorious.
One thing that occurs to me is that the back box is strapped to the rear of the engine - a metal to metal contact - if I could find an insulating material I could make up a couple of pads to stop that sound transfer (if any is coming from that region) - any idea on what I could use for the pads? I'm looking to create two two inch square pads

Provided its proper tight I doubt any volume would reduce other than vibration which if the straps are tight enough its shouldn't happen. Remember the whole thing is bolted to the cylinder head ports so its never going to be isolated from metal to metal of the engine. I'd use exhaust wrap around the mounts to give it a go if you wanna!

I reckon if you think of the sound waves as a load of balls bouncing around - they are going to be moving in the same direction in the header pipes, but when they get to the muffler they'll be knocking about against each other and making noise.Nige wrote:Provided its proper tight I doubt any volume would reduce other than vibration which if the straps are tight enough its shouldn't happen. Also if you put your head against another person's (preferably female) head and then get them to make a noise you hear it inside your head before your ears pick it up.
So having learned my physics from Blue Peter and John Cravens newsround I reckon that some of the noise will be coming from that link - anyway it wont' take too long to try it out
