Hi all
I recently had a trawl through some old family cine films and found some footage of cars leaving London and at the docks during the early stages of the 1961 Monte carlo rally among them is a 356A coupe whose registration number was 13 TMP or similar it appeared to be a Ruby red and had yellow driving lights , I had a poke around the internet trying to find entry listings for that year but had no joy though I'm pretty sure I have a book somewhere with that info in it but god knows where , anyway does it ring any bells?? Bill

Could it have been 13 TMF - this was owned by CW Yates in 1962

yes it could be 13 TMF , its just in a couple of shots one of it in a line of cars behind an oval Beetle , and a close up of its front showing its rally plate and its driving lamps , I will try to find my book as I think it has lists of entrants in it , and how many 356 A's have you seen with black steering wheels and knobs etc, Bill.

and never enough beer and pizza for me , seriously I was thinking about horn rings and the such the other day and my old A the had a polished 'ring (innuendo opportunity) and a black steering wheel, and it had not been painted , and I have seen another '58 with a bolted rear wing brace so what about '59's , Bill.

I will ignore the innuendo opportunity although, I am tempted, in the extreme

I think what we can say is that there were Set Standards but anything is possible

I was party to John Hearn when he ordered his new 911 3.2 Carrera with wider than Standard Road Wheels and the previous Model’s Steering Wheel - that will upset the Purity Police in times to come

With regard to Bolted Wing Braces - I think I had confused myself by not keeping an open mind and by assumption and as we all know the definition of assumption is --------- `the start of a cock up`
