Drum or disc brakes?

Porsche Standard Drums in perfect condition are the same as Porsche Standard Discs in perfect condition

When Discs come into their own is in a constant use situation - Drums cannot get rid of the heat as well as Discs

So Racing or Mountain work - discs everytime

Dual system - YES

I used to drive an unrestored twingrill B with standard drums ...great car ...brakes were just fine
Disks have the edge also a little in the wet but only just
And if you ever get the chance to drive a car with Carrera drums it is an experience ...I did once and nearly put myself through the windscreen ...incredible they was

Hi had C discs put on on A coupe, but can be converted back to drums, all of my 356's in the past have had drums and as long as they are set up properly they are good.

However there is a reason why Mr Porsche went to disc's for the C model 356 and then 911, they are more reliable, easier maintenance, better feel all round.

I find that at motorway speeds of 70+ I want to be sure my breaks wont fade and I will actually stop in time and have total confidence in them, something that I didnt always have with drums.

I suppose the answer is which ever you choose you can always change at a later date.
