off to NZ!

Just loaded the speedster into a 40ft container with a load of spares and my renault spider to keep it company on its long voyage to NZ.
Been here 20 years but feel its time to go home-only came for a 2 year working holiday!! Had a great time and will miss alot but feel that the balance has shifted and am once again missing what NZ has to offer.

Did have a buyer for the speedster but whilst getting the car ready for the transporter which was on its way ,I backed out and had to make myself a bit unpopular by ringing the buyer to tell him the deal was off!!
Felt like I was selling my soul.
Best decision I ever made.

Hope there is as enthusiastic scene in NZ as there is here....

good luck mate. have also been here 15 years when I was coming for just two. Enjoy the roads in NZ and make sure you stay in touch via DDK. cheers steve

Interested in your thinking on why after 20yrs you choose to go back now? What do you feel that NZ offers that it hasn't in last 20yrs?

Hi Richard

I am so glad you decided not to sell the Speedster, I think you would of regretted it for the rest of your life, even though I would love to buy it off you someday.

Good luck in NZ, I know a few people that have moved there recently and never want to come back to the UK

Sold the other speedster I had to export 56 who will no doubt restore it and sell on again.Sold a van load of mechanical parts to Andy Prill so that should help keep the supply of engines coming.

I have a 1 year old boy and I want him to grow up in a place where kids are allowed to be kids rather than little adults with pressure from early on.Not sure about the whole school thing here and have too many friends paying through the nose to send thier kids to private schools as local schools are no good.

Really just want a slower pace and to be somewhere where the days seem to have more hours.NZ is a place where its a bit more about what you do as opposed to what you have.

I will feel a little isolated and Europe and all the culture it has to offer will seem a long way away but Im already booked to come back for classic Le mans next year-Its only a long day on a plane away.

I will miss it and if NZ isnt all I hope It will be then we will pack up and move on...
