You are too late Bootsy.

I sent 6k over the weekend by the same method which he banked along with 25 others who did the same yesterday. He sent me a pic from his mobile on a plane to the Far East today holding a wad of cash in his hand grinning from ear to ear. The car is in a lockup in Liverpool and I have to contact his brother to get the keys. He lives at 1 Devonshire Place, Toxteth so sounds like a nice place, probably an Edwardian detached in a leafy avenue or something.

Regards
Mike

Do they ever find a buyer using these tactics? this car was sold in Nov 2007 through Bonhams if I recall correctly. I think it's even the same photo they used.

Rubbish, I have been talking to Terry wayyyy before all you guys. I was send a pdf with the memorandum of sale.

It is not at Devonshire place, Mike: it is 1 Devonshire road. Had to bargain hard though- got it for 4400. Euros that is: can't believe my luck as that's even more of a discount! He did sound in a hurry but then again, many porsche specialists are these days.

Roll on the good weather.

i reckon i was first on the case, saw it sunday and looking hard at the mo for a chrome window 911 (any engine will do for me), got a smilar reply - mentioned i thought he was a scammer and got this

"I appreciate the time and hope we can make a deal. First, I am 100% honest.
I truly apologize being straight forward but I believe in it, for your sake and mine.
Over the past few years, I have sold many thing via eBay and
gumtree, autotrader.co.uk. Over the course of these transactions, I have had many scams
used on me. I have been given forged checks and fake cashiers checks. I
started accepting paypal, only to have many confirmed payments reversed
after the item was shipped. When I deposit a check funds are released,
but forged checks can take weeks to be found and then my account will
have money deducted. These scams have cost me thousands of pounds.
Once I received a counterfeit check.
Please do not take this as me distrusting you personally, please
understand that I am simply trying to protect my interests as you are while completing a mutually satisfying transaction. You're welcome to pick it up anytime.
However, if it's not what it appears to be, I suggest you to go elsewhere.
If you decide not to go through with it there is no problem. I got quite a
few offers left. Get back to me and let me know what you decide. Thank you
for your time and interest..
Whatever you decide I wish you good luck."
damn he almost got me with that one, but i would only buy a car in the flesh, and he was cagey with where it was, etc

i cant believe i have obly just noticed this section of the forum! ive been a member for well over a year and only just found this bit! Will have to check it more often as the search for a 911 in full swing, you will probally see some of my wanted adverts in pistonheads/car and classic.

Luke - this section is a relatively new addition - it's only been here for a couple of months.
