Door Pocket Trim Group Buy?

I've emailed Einmalig with a view to finding out costs of door pocket trim before Disco posted the prices. I also asked Einmalig about their minimum quantity for a group buy and prices for original and repro trim.

Depending on the reply I get this may not fly so we'll see.

So who is interested? And how many parts do you need?

I need 2x long 2x short trim, 0x square

Update 1: Einmalig have offered their replacement plastic trim for $50 each, so a door is $100, 2 doors is $200. plus group postage and insurance. We need 3 buyers to get a 15% discount. This would work out to be circa £104 for both pockets according to xe.com plus a share of postage and insurance. If Disco go this for half that I'm loathe to pay twice for plastic trim. I'm awaiting a response to an email confirming prices based on Disco's post.

I have also emailed the german Ebay vendor and am awaiting a response from him about group discounts. His trim is alluminium which I'd prefer and contains all 3 pieces as opposed to the 2 from Einmalig but is €110 per side which equates to £200 at list for both pockets. Assuming a 15% discount this is still £170.

At the risk of making you all laugh, I still can't believe a simple bit of alloy is so expensive!

Anyone know if these parts are handed? or do they just some straight and are bent to suit?

I had some from einmalig which I then sold on ebay with pockets etc and the buyer was disapointed and felt that that trim could be bought from a variety of places in UK -

it was just plastic like trim if memory serves and very flexible

maybe they could send a sample

The plastic trim - similar to the type used on the original Mini wheel arches/sill trim perhaps ?
Just a simple 'U' section chrome colour about 15mm wde on eachface ?

Thats the stuff i tried, it looks ok, but nothing like the original really.

I thought about Mini side trim at the weekend but knew it was too long as I struggled with it on my first car, a 1969 Wolseley Hornet in the late 80's.

I'm currently trying to research custom aluminium tubing manufacturers.

I reckon that may be the way forward as we effectively need 3/4 of an oval tube with a lip on one side but as I'm at work 9-5:30 I'm struggling to get time off to go see some. I need to get proper measurements of the size of the bit of trim I have so they can see if they can easily replicate it (cheaply!). I've been looking at inal.com and spartal.co.uk and the latter seem to fit the criteria.

Update 2

I have an email from the German ebay chap who will give us a 25% discount on orders over 500€ if we have a VAT number! He says this is the original porsche item and the original material. This works out to be circa £150 for the trim for both door pockets plus a share of packaging and postage. Or we can get a 6% discount without a VAT number. Or you can order them yourself from him at list price with the buy it now on ebay.

I've had words with my garage as he also needs a set or two for his customers and he is prepared to order these and put them through his books if we can give him a couple of quid for his effort. He is in business to make money afterall. He'd need the money upfront.

I'm more inclined to the ebay ones as they are the original part and material rather than plastic.

Is anyone still interested and in which one?
