Attaching engine shelf Qs

[58A - 71E]

As part of the restoration of the 58A I am having to replace the sheetmetal in the engine bay, referred to below as the engine tray

NLA website says it's normally welded in place but in early cars it's held in by bolts

My original one was held in by bolts which screwed into a captive nut along the outer flange of the shelf, trouble is I think the old ones found their way to the local dump so I can't remember what size they were or how many there were.
Anyone know a source for the captive threads? how many bolts there are and their size? When the tray went from bolted in to welded in?

the engine tray is held in with 6mm bolts and a very similar captive nut to the original is sold by Wurth , you may find their catalogue on line , and shame on you for binning bits of your car before suitable replacements are found if you want a look at the tray in situ I could get some pictures of the '57 cab I have as there is no engine in the way at present, Bill.

as far as I know they went to a welded in tray with the B model although its pretty much the same thing.

If you could post some pics of the 57 engine shelf that would be great.

Oh, and when I say that the old ones made their way to the dump, that doesnt necessarily mean it was me that took them there - thats the "benefit" of Mrs 58A on a tidy up day in the garage

here are a few pictures of the rear tray area , I'm sorry its all a bit grotty at present but I did dab some tippex on the bolt heads though god help you if your car is so rotten these bolt holes are missing!!
