Very early Bosch headlights. Any ideas

Post by ianj »

I have come across two early Bosch headlights and wondered if anyone can confirm what they are off. They are not a matching pair. The dirty looking one has Bosch written in a more italic style. I am lead to believe they could be early porsche or VW.
Any help appreciated.

I can't see the "Bosch" writing on the top one, is more styled and sloping?
If so it will be '50s (I have the same on my A).
The lower one is a '60s (or later?) light.
Don't know what they're off, but pretty sure they're not Porsche.

The fixings on the bezel don't look Karmann Ghia to me, also on a KG the bezel is more rounded where it meets the lens and usually an inner part can be seen.

DKW?

DKW looks to be a good shout. Just googled DKW images and there is a 3-6 on there. The lens looks to be the same although not so sure about the surround.

as far as i can deduce DKW units were larger in appearance than the items pictured ...
they could be borgward units - as they use a seperate outer chrome embelishment (in a similar way to a ghia )

but thinking about this rationally i have spent far too much time contemplating the origins of some lights i really dont give a **** about
