it's a good price, I paid a lot more for mine as I wanted a mint one. Just need the right crown and a bit of tlc by the looks of it (unless you dig WABI!)

Some advice needed please chaps - am a "virgin" when it comes to vintage watches

Having just been blessed with a new little boy - I'm after a watch, initially for me but then to pass on to him when he's older.
No idea what to buy, budget at the moment is only £250, so what do you all recommend?
I did like the look of the Orfina that Bootsy sold a while back......

tricky one - unlikely you are going to find a watch that will increase in value much at that price mark tbh unless you are incredibly lucky so I'd buy something that YOU really like...that way when you pass it on it will have REAL sentimental value to your son...that will be worth more

I agree completely.

How about an older Omega?

Something like this one I have (not for sale btw).

A nice understated 60s item, automatic and keeps great time. I've put it on an Ostrich strap and cleaned it up.

Something like this would be within budget and not lose you any money and may even gain a little!

One owner since 1969 & complete with original Omega strap, box, etc (but sadly not the original sales invoice).

Incidentally Thomas - what do you clean them with ?

I clean mine up with Jewllers Rogue polish and Cape Cod cloths.

I have a hobbiest drill to put various mops, light grinds etc. I'm no expert by a long shot so only take on cleans that don't require too much work, the odd crystal change etc.

As for the value of your one posted? I'd say between £150-300 but have seen them retail for as much as £400.
