Baliblau colour match.

Post by GCA »

Has anyone out there had any dealings with Baliblau? I'm just about to paint a C, and my customer is worried about getting an accurate shade of the original. I'm a dedicated PPG user and just wondered if someone was able to say for sure, if there was another paint company they could say is producing a better match or not? Graham.

I got my codes from Stoddard, there are a few versions as codes get updated when new mixing colours are introduced etc, so get them all!
Went to a local paint factors who did not use the same system so a local autoshop sprayed up a test card for me. They thought it an awful colour, the heathens. Pretty sure it was a PPG system.
Anyway, took this card back to the local paint factors and left it with them for a day, to come back with a nice mix of 5 ltr. cellulose (didn't want the plastic gloss of 2k).
My colour was Aetna Blue, and I would say it was about 95+% spot on, considering the only colour I was matching it to (on the dash lid) was under lots of paint, and had 49 years of sun;-).
Contact me if you have any 356b coupe parts !!!!
