Can anybody help me please

Post by 356lover »

Bit of a long story but I will get to the point in the end.

When I bought my restoration project I got a spare engine in with the deal. As I wanted to keep my car matching numbers and could do with the funds to put into the project I decided I was going to sell the engine. A friend of mine(or someone I thought was a friend) wanted to buy the engine off of me to put in his split screen pick up.
He took the engine and as I thought he was a friend I said that he could pay me when he had the spare cash as I was in no real hurry. After a long while I decided to give him a nudge about paying for the engine at which point he stopped all communication. I knew he had stripped the engine ready for a rebuild and wanted the money he owed me. It just so happened that one day whilst I was looking at classic cars for sale on ebay I came accross his split screen for sale. At this point I was decidedly miffed off and text to say I was coming round for my money.
To cut a very long story short I have managed to get the engine back(in bits) and having never had one apart I was wondering if there is anybody local to Winchester/Andover with engine knowledge who might be able to take a look at what I have got back and let me know whether I have been screwed over twice????

Hopefully you didnt nod off half way through

I live in Southampton so if you want to box what you have and bring it round then I will look over the bits.
Avoiding local so-called self proclaimed specialists.

Thanks for the offer David,

Im popping round to see Ren at the weekend with all the bits, he is a lot closer to me.
Your blog looks very descriptive and will come in handy for the rebuild, thanks for the link.

Had a look through the boxes last night as the engine only turned up yesterday, already found the heads, inlet manifolds and carbs are not there. Not a good start  Wonder what else will be missing.
