The horror a work in progress, with pictures!

Hi All
I have finally made a start on the rusty A cab I am trying to get through a straight MOT, its not inteded to be a full resto more a controlled quality repair type thing , the first job is to sort out the front suspension V brace, the anti roll bar mounts and the bottom of the front bulkhead, once this is done the engine etc will be removed and the shell braced so the inner sills can be repaired and the floor replaced , easy huh and I wont it out by the 25th of this month. Here are a few ictures showing a bit being made for the bulkhead and a new bottom made up and fitted for the front anti roll bar..

so there you go I am not Barry Carter but its going to be better than it was , couldn't be worse! Bill.

Not too shabby chap... some nice metal bending there! Looks like a pretty rusty old tub to get out by the 25th?

There are plenty of 356s out there that don't warrant or need full restos - just a little attention to keep them going every now and then - and those are the cars with real character in my book. I got rid of a tidy '54 some years ago as i couldn't see myself shelling out for the resto I thought it deserved. Had a lot of fun in that car (some of it almost legal) and I should have kept it until the floors gave way and then saved the old bugger!

Nice start, keep the pictures coming these are always interesting but impossible to show sometimes how difficult items like these sheet metal parts are to produce!

11 days and counting... would love to see this get to it's MoT. Any more pics or have you swept it up into a bin bag?

not in a bin bag quite yet and I was distracted by in order a 250 Ferrari, two P38 Range Rovers and my landlords Transit van but it made some good progress today and more pictures soon , tomorrow I shall be excavating for sound metal in the left hand front inner wing, Bill.

not too much obvious progress but some interesting bodgery or rather layers of , that said at least by merely covering everything over and not chopping away the rotten original parts there are plenty of clues as to exactly where the new metal has to go..

and here is the LH side..

ok so its not going to be done by the twenty fifth but its making progress although it is pretty awful but not a lost cause, Bill.

I am envious of people able to do there own resto jobs, I think i might learn how to weld, that might be a good start!

Bill you are right, the covered over area's didn't get much worse and once those pop rivited parts are off, you will see best how to replace the metal. On those inner front wings are you going to buy the repair panel complete? or manage to insert a good repair patch?

You are doing well, I do look closely at the photo's.
