Ok, maybe not so much the ad, but the car - it's on a VW Beetle chassis!! I don't think many countries would register it.

Why not, you may struggle but if the VIN plates are swapped over it could be a cheapo rat/rodder. I guess with them being related its relatively a simple swap, though you'd want to swap the 4 stud hubs to 5 for a more authentic wheel choice.
