Hello Chaps...
Just got my king and link pins back from the engineering shop and they look like they've been put together wrong... does anyone have any pictures of some together right so I can check... they certainly don't fit back the way they came off!?!

I recently had some help adjusting my linkpins, I used this pic- so ignore the red arrow. Might help a little. I found the workshop manual exploded diagram hugely confusing!

King and link pin pictures... HELP!!!
Thanks very much for that... I agree the manual is very confusing... if anyone else has any more pictures especially if they're of king and link pins off the car that would also help... thanks again.

As a guide the Stoddard site has an exploded view of the front suspension set up for the link pin and king pin components and the sequence they are fitted in.
The link pin and king pin are not numbered but the link pin goes through bush ( no. 18 ) and the kingpin is the vertical one.
To view this drawing:
www.stoddard.com. click on "parts store" click on "356 catalog " you do not have to log on. then click "Front suspension and steering" then click "front suspension components" the exploded drawing can then be seen with a description of all the numbered items below.

have you checked the offset of the trailing arms and do you have kits with ten shims per pin as the vw kits normally have eight shims the easy answer is to buy another kit they are not dear, as for getting them together wrong make sure the thrust washer and its dust cover is above the pivoting part of the assembly when installed , so the weight of the car bears on it you see, and if you buy one book of imformation buy an Elfrink book off Ebay, they are excellent and put the imformation you need across in a relatively easy to understand way, Bill
