We had lunch at Rick Stein's place a few years ago. It was not, shall we say, the best meal we have had :sad3:

Or there's the Cotswolds. Went there in a rented 246GT and had a fantastic time (with Mrs G). The Lygon Arms is wonderful.

if its not upto scratch there will either be a hefty chunk off the bill or a horrendous scene in the restaurant!
fingers crossed it will be good, mrs smallspeed has been talking about how much she'd like to go there for a while

ps.. i grew up in the cotswolds so its kind of not a holiday if you know what i mean. also if i pass into the thames valley, even on my way somewhere else, 1001 different relatives want to know why i didnt go visit them

pps.. i'm still loving the idea of staying in that grand designs castle! next time maybe :)

They have some serious savings to be made at the moment booking online for the Lygon Arms.
Stayed there last year with a group of Porsche owners, very enjoyable.
