New 912 owner saying hello

Post by ianj »

I have just become the owner of a 1969 coupe in need of restoration so thought I should say hello and post a couple of pics. I bought it thinking it was rust free but am already finding more work than I expected. Carpets came up today and floors will need work as do the sills.
Get ready for a lot of stupid questions.
I also can't make my mind up at the moment, should i put it back to the original Burgandy or do it the colour i wanted, Ivory. Probably the least of my worries at the moment but its nice to dream of what hopefully will be.

Ian

Hi Ian

good luck with the project - you'll find lots of 912 owners here on DDK.

Doesn't look a bad project - is it all complete??

1972 914/6 GT replica - 2.7 - signal orange.

Hi and welcome from another (reasonably) recent 912 owner.

Do you have any history of the car, if you have a big history file back to '69 then I would say go back to burgundy. If not, paint it what ever colour you like. I agree with Helen, leave it as is...it would certainly get you noticed but you will have to lower the front end unless you are considering going "off road".

Thanks for the welcome guys and gals. Already started to strip it so it is going to get new paint. I have no history with the car but believe it has had very few owners and it is only showing 57k on the clock which looking at the fronts seats would appear genuine.
Timo, i'd love to see more pics of yours if you have a link. The Burgandy is growing on me more and more as i take off bits and see paintwork that has never seen the light of day.
