Handbrake pull handle & mechanism - Missing (1961 356t5)

My car's a recent import from the US, and is missing a handbrake!

I have the metal 'tube' where the handle should be just below the steering wheel but no handle... I've spoken to the guys at Karman Konnection and they don't stock these parts... they think I'm going to need to source the handle, a metal rod that this attaches to, a couple of washers and springs, and a funny shaped piece of metal... put together, this becomes the handbrake mechanism!

So my questions are:
1) Anyone know a supplier from whom I might source these parts?
2) Does anyone have these bits I could buy from them?
3) I'm assuming the bits are the same on all 356's [except pre-As?] but not any early VWs.

The car is a 1961 356bT5 Silver (bought via DDK... car was the 'rstytub' one from Arizona sold in Jan)... I'm having the floors and doors welded up at the moment in prep for MOTing, registering and then enjoying!

Might be worth contacting the owner of this resto project, I think he's looking at replacing his handbrake

NOTES:-

A RHD one is different to a LHD one

`A`s, `B`s and C`s are all different in subtle and not so subtle ways - so there 6 options

We will probably have one at PRS - If no one else offers

A while back when my old man still had his garage, his mechanic thought my hand brake was stiff so he oiled it up for me and now it don't hold in place. If you do get your bits and refit them I would like to know how the thing comes apart etc so I can clean off any grease or oil so my hand brake holds again.

Same problem with mine.

It don't seem to want to hold on mine either.

Is this a common fault?

don't know, the Lads at PR services sorted my handbrake out for me and it seems to work fine. my biggest problem is reaching it when i have the seat belt on.

Andy Prill has offered to fit a (between the seats) Normal handbrake for me. i'm still thinking about that.

Ren, have you twisted the handbrake cable so that it naturally turns and locks? I drove my T6 for many years with the cable attached without a twist and couldn't understand why it would knock off very easily.

No not tried that. My hand brake handle just dont hold any more since friendly mechanics greasing up. I will give it a try.
