We've seen Chris' art at numerous Concours. Her specialty is placing public figures (Jazz and movie stars) with period correct automobiles.
I wanted the commission to be commercially viable for the artist as she shows her work on the same show circuit that we participate in. It's a great ego boost to have someone come up to you at a show and say, "Did you know that one of the artists painted a picture of your car?"
That happens to us a lot as we commissioned another artist, an English fellow named Gerald Freeman, to do a painting for us commemorating our "Best of Class" at the Meadow Brook Concours in 2004. The Glenmoor Gathering is held at the Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, Ohio. It's an old Catholic seminary converted into a convention center, golf club and hotel. It's in the top 5 shows in the US. This painting was done from a picture taken during the awards ceremony.
Other than the movie star, the others in the picture have a significance to us and add to the overall enjoyment of the art.
The fellow in the rumpled hat is the show's Director. The man in the sport coat is the co-founder and Chairman of the show (and a huge Porsche fan) and the tall guy in the Hawaiian shirt and driving cap is me. The couple in the background are volunteers for the show that have opened their home and garage to us each time we've attended this concours.
That would be my wife, Glynette, wearing her trademark black hat, in the driver's seat.
