Coast 2 Coast DDK Tour 2009 - 12th / 13th September 2009

Well, my 2005 & 2006 DDK events went OK .... so for 2009 its going to be the DDK Porsche Coast 2 Coast , very loosely based on Wainwrights C2C ( http://www.c2cpackhorse.co.uk/walk.htm )

The route ( to be plotted / planned by you ) will follow some of Englands most spectacular roads .... from technical & narrow roads / passes in the Lakes & the Dales, to the fast sweeping moorland roads of Teesdale & Yorkshire Moors.

The main point I must emphasis about this DDK tour is, I will supply everyone with suggested points of interest to travel through / stop at, but it is not a 'pre-planned route' or a 'convoy' style of event. Everyone is free to go which ever route they choose. If small groups are happy to drive together that's great & adds to the enjoyment. The aim is for you all to tour across the most scenic part of England, in your own time & at your own pace.

The basic plan for the event is this :

Friday 11th September

Overnight stay in the Lake District, close to St Bees
( For those travelling from a-far )

Sat 12th September

9.00am Meet in the beach car-park @ St Bees ( dip your toes in the Irish Sea )

10am Set off on 1st half of DDK C2C ( Lakes & Dales )

midday - Lunch stop @ a place of your choice

5pm - Arrive at Hotel ( located 1/2 way along the route) for overnight DDK meal + Overnight accomodation

Sunday 13th September

10am - Set off on 2nd leg of DDK C2C ( Dales & Moors )

3pm - Arrive near Robin Hoods bay for a tea / coffee / scones etc & a walk down to the beach + dip toes in the North Sea ;)

The plan is to finish early afternoon so giving you the opportunity to travel home Sunday evening.
If people want, Sunday night accomodation can also be arranged.

The above is a VERY ROUGH outline, but gives you an idea.

All I need at this stage is an idea on numbers.

Hardknott pass .... great road, but not that suited to low slung cars + single track so PITA if you meet someone ....... but well worth doing just for the experience 8) .
