The first time EVER I have seen a chartreuse 964. The pistonheads link -currently live- is here:

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/818532.htm

But I have saved the pictures in photobucket for safekeeping! Imagine that next to a 73 RS, on cup1 build to RS spec. Woa :love1:

Does anyone know the first year chartreuse was available from the factory?

I think you're right, I remember seeing the car on Ebay and it stated that it had been resprayed in VW Lemon Yellow - looks good though.

Aha, okay now it becomes clear. I couldnt find "lemon yellow" as a colour code in the 964 range so I assumed therefore it must have been a colour to sample.

I also assumed that therefore the dealer might not know about the magical chartreuse and called the colour "lemon yellow".

Teaches me right: never assume but check check check. That statement is also valid when delivering heat exchangers so I have been told

Best regards
