Picked up engine from Roger Bray(Pics)

Post by TheBaron »

Just got back from Roger Bray, discussing what needs to be done with my car, I was pleasantly surprised at just how good it was looking after the initial pics i was sent over christmas.

I picked up my engine and gearbox which Andy Prill will be picking up from my house next wk. After looking at the engine, not sure if Andy will be able to make it into the beast i am looking for, it is not the original and is a 60hp unit.

I love all the original lead filling from the Porsche factory(it is the lighter grey on the car)

I'll be interested to see what engine work you have. I'm thinking of having my 'A' rebuilt at some point (hopefully this year depending on how work goes!). I'll be looking for 100bhp - what are you hoping to get from yours then?

912 wise When I spoke with Andy and my engine as I am following his rules of building as it where. I am expecting from my 912 engine 112-118bhp

Even a 60hp can be forced into the modern age... mine's based on a normal and is still up at about 115ish last time we tested it. Didn't cost a bundle either

Mines back in the car and not sure what its going to produce but it should be around 100-110 bhp. Just got to connect up the autopulse fuel pump and regulator then bang crash and grind. I start the thing up.

I'd be interested in how you guys are achieving that kind of power output. Are you doing big bore conversions or other exotic stuff, or are the more minor tweaks?

Maybe we should start a thread on engine specs and power output?

Well, I have used a big bore kit, CB straight cut cam gears, neutek 1 cam, s90 heads flycut etc with chamber angles cut as per 912s, CSP alloy pulley and push rods, PMatters filter, lightened flywheel with rebuilt solex 40s and a good bit of compression ratio goes a long way. Should up the power from 90 to 100 no problem so after its all run in and settled I will have to get it dyno tested to see what it actually has. First fire up.
