1961 Porsche 356B T5 Super Coupe *SOLD*

Post by rstytub »

reluctantly, I am considering the sale of my beloved 356.

I have owned it for nearly a year now but with work commitments haven't had the time to MOT and register this amazing car.

I imported it personally from Arizona last year with the intention of registering it and driving it, but it's been sat garaged ever since.

it was previously owned by Captain Gil Delgado of the United States Air Force. Check it out here

http://www.356registry.org/Members/Delgado/

here's the details:

1961 Porsche 356B T5 Super Coupe
New engine fitted running big bore B&P's
New wheels fitted
Imported from Arizona early 2008.

requires new front floor pan and spare wheel well. Both of which I have but haven't had chance to get fitted. (Included in Sale)

Starts first time every time, mechanically is great.

Bodywork is beautifully sun bleached from the hot Arizona Climate. Bottom of both doors are rusty and there is a small rust hole below the right of the rear screen. Other than that it's really solid dry car. Interior is complete in beautiful red vinyl. Rusty luggage rack is included!
Must be seen!

I love this.

Wish I had the slightest bit or resto knowledge and could do this myself. It would be perfect.

Alas I know it would end up going off to a pro and costing me £££££

Arr that's sad to see I still have not seen the car yet and it's about 1 mile from my house perhaps I could pop round and take a look and slap you about the head and talk you out of selling it

Would love to take a look when I am over my man flu..

that's what's good about this forum and others you can learn while people teach you..

I remember a great thread on Pelican where a guy rebuilt his 911 gearbox with photo's and advice from the fourm he had never done it before..This car does not need to be thrown in to a huge resto project it just needs to be MOT'd and enjoyed..

Wow, I hope mine ends up looking like this.
Whats with the tiny battery ? not seen one of those before?

The floor pan and battery panels are probably the easiest of all of the panels to replace, BTW.
Contact me if you have any 356b coupe parts !!!!

Looks like an Optima, all the rage in the USA. Not cheap, often used in marine applications. Apparently hold their charge really well. Was about £150 for a 911/912 one last time I looked.

I LOVE the look of this car and what provenance!

Has anyone seen it in the flesh? Any idea how much it would need spending on it to pass an MOT and be roadworthy?

I'd keep it just the way it is - loving the patina.
