Mines just worked ok .............its like a dial straight off dashboard , definitely seen before , cant place Moto Chron though ..................never mind the penny may drop during the Antiques rd show !..............its my age !

I was lucky enough to be given a basic Rolex for my 16th birthday and despite hankering after some of the watches above (and others), I will not be parted from my Rolex - until I pass it on to my son for his 16th.

Wife got me a Heuer Carrera (one of the early TAG remakes from about 8 years ago) for fun but I rarely wear it. I am not a fan of "big" watches and a Panerai, or IWC for example, looks silly on my wrist (in my eyes). So that sort of limits my choices as so many manufacturers are now doing very large watches (The IWC anniversary remakes are huge compared to the old Portugese, for example)

So the craving is sated by me buying them for my wife.

She has a:
Cartier Tank Francaise
Cartier Tonneau
Rolex Oyster from 1967 (the year of her birth)
Jaeger Reverso Squadra
and will soon be in receipt of a Patek 3579

I also love a watch and my choice at the moment is a Tag Heurer chronometer its perpetual same as the Rolex but by far feels a better watch, just in weight and strap quality, as my Bro has the sub Mariner. I feel value for money, the Tag gets it

Right guys, it's that time of year again, time to ressurect this post!

Given the uncertainty around numbers and indeed tenure in my industry I am preparing 2 potential plans of attack on the watch front:

There was a fabulous second hand watch shop in the Strand, nearly opposite the Savoy Hotel. They had everything, if its still there but i cant remember the name

its strange how things work .... 1st I had no watch for 15 years, then I got some enthusiasm for mechanical watches & purchased my Panerai 'homage' . This watch really started my new found interest in watches with the result being this landing on my doorstep today

i james watches are like cars a real boys toys thing, you wont stop, there is always somthing else you want i have given up as i have some 36 good watches, in my day you started off steel moved to gold and go back to steel only it does grab you! be careful peter

Very nice James....I think we narrowed down your needs spot on and its a really beautiful catch. The hands and markers have a wonderful patina having faded nicely since the early 90s and as a full set it has everything.

Remember i'll always have first refusal

Be careful joining those watch forums though. WIS is even more addictive than Porsche...I should know I bought and sold over 60 last year although pretty confident collection is just about sorted now
