Fuel Pump switch

Post by Ren »

Hi All, any know if the switch for the fuel pump on a B t-5 GT was the same as the wiper switch?

If so has anyone got one?

356 - Ignition & Fuel Pump Switches

Post by Mike Smith »

Good Morning Dave,

A Wiper Switch is 4-Pole

The Ignition or Fuel Pump Switches are 2 Pole

The Switches that you can find now--------

The length of thread that comes thru. the Dashboard varies (4 x Lengths)

The thread on this part of the switch varies (2 x Different Threads)

The thread on the Knob Varies (2 x Different Threads)

The knobs are not the correct form - (You will have to buy the knob separately)

The bezel that locks it to the dash is not the correct form (You will have to buy the Bezel separately)

I can probably find all the bits if you Really want one but why not find yourself a nice period Flick Switch at a swop meet and be different from the crowd

Hi Mike, hope business is good for ya. My wiper switch has only on and off so thought it was 2 pole. Ok how much for a correct 2 pole switch. I would refer it to look as close to factory as poss.

Dave,

I am at home - so not know just how many switches we have left - If any (?) but assuming we do have one

Switch is £22 (with Correct threads for bezel etc)
Bezel is £12 (we have to makes them)
Knob is £10 ( VERY hard to find real ones - I think repros are $20)

A Total of £44 + Postage + VAT

This is all Carrera Stuff (Ignition Switches) - so it is Rocking Horse Poo - which is why I suugested finding a period flick switch

Pump Wiper Switch

Post by Ren »

Sorry for the delay in getting a reply to you Mike.

Its in the free pdf files you can get from Porsche called
356_USA_50_59_KATALOG.

I also have the 60_later model version.

They have all porsche parts and numbers. I have also checked this with Mr Kirwans original porsche parts number books.

Also Rich at KK agrees that wiper and pump switch are the same on a t-5. The t-5 wiper only has one speed on or off. I can only assume the fuel pump switch was the same from the parts numbers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dave,
The problem I am having is that I do not know of ANY 356 that was ever fitted with a FUEL pump Kill swtch (That includes late Carreras) - I am happy to stand corrected that is the way that we all learn
Where in the Parts books does it list this switch and where was it positioned on the dash?
The T5 Wiper Switch is a 4 Pole Switch (However it It will do the job if you can find one - You quote Richie - what does he want for one - ?)
The switch number you quote (644 613 501 01) is a Fog Light Switch and is also a 4 pole switch
Original 4- Pole Switches usually sell for around £40-00 without the correct knob, if you are lucky it may come with an old bezel
What you really need is a simple 2 -pole switch as used to switch the Carrera Coils
You said that NLA was a cheaper source of these - Certainly the Bezel and the Knob is very competatively priced but I could not find the switch on the website
What was the price for the actual switch ?
Hi Mike, this is the page from parts book and I hope you can see that there are two sets of numbers for the fuel pump switch but the later one is the same as the wiper switch. If I went the USA route for a repro switch then I was going to get the switch from Stoddards which is about $20.00. However I wanted to try to source an original switch first.
