Best source for an A front clip?

Need to find a new front clip for the 356, the old one is just too knackered to rescue I'm afraid
Looked at the usual suspects, Roger Bray and Karmann Konnection here in the UK, but the exchange rate at the moment isn't helping when looking at Tanner, Trevors Hammer works, Restoration Design and Stoddards - anyone got any other suggestions?

I dont want to sell a kidney which most of the above would require me to do

Your only other (very expensive) option would be to have someone make one.
Your best bet is to import and personally I would always use Trevors Hammer Works. Maybe you could wait a bit and see if the exchange rate gets better or maybe one of the suppliers will have a sale.

I reckon Hendrik is probably right, I'll hang on a bit and see if either
a) the pound recovers against the dollar or
b) hope there's a sale on soon

there's plenty to do on the car in the meantime before this needs tackling

Also, anyone know if rear clips are available for As

Tanner says no stock, and others only show T5 and T6 available

It's called Parkplace (in the US) and they seem to have lots of old bits.

I've bought off Sussette (356parkplace) quite a few times. She's a good source for early parts. Never had a problem.

Thanks chaps, although I noticed that one on ebay bid up to $1250 but didnt make the reserve price, only issue might be shipping the thing back here though, as it makes it pretty clear its the buyer's responsibility and its not like asking DHL to pick up a nice neat parcel really.

Either of you brought anything that big over here before?

Yes, I have bought T5 and T6 noses from Trevors Hammer Works.
I had to pick them up (luckily I have a van!), the first one from the Parcelforce depot nearby and the second one I went down to a depot near Heathrow for (I had to go down to pick something up from someone else anyway). On both occasions I had to pay VAT and customs clearance. Have received smaller items that I have had to pay VAT on as well.
Both Trevor and Sussette have arranged the shipping from their end and I have paid with paypal.

I forget his name now but the guy that took over Alex's place in Ringwood also has bought from Trevors and that lot arrived in a HUGE box. Seams they are used to it..

I must admit some times it's cheaper in the long run to buy a car and then pack it with parts and sell it afterwards..

I got a front clip from the guys at KK. I contacted all the US manufacturers and after receiving tales of no stock, wont be doing any for three months etc I choose KK. Also as I am with an airline I dont pay anything for freight and even with this bonus it still seemed UK was the best bet. Most airlines wont take pieces without them being adequately packaged and then the stuff will volume out so expect to pay lots and the duty you pay is based on the landed value, more dough. I am just saying cost it all out thoroughly.
