51 356

[Jez 356]

When looking at Richie King's new motor I had a look round the KK website and saw this 51 356 for sale.

£38,000 I am note sure if it comes with all the bits to complete but that does seem alot or is it when you consider all the work you would need to do to get an early 356 to this stage?

I suspect Mark912 would be happy to pay to get his to this stage ? Or is this too much Mark?

£38k for a 51 with all the bits is not bad but I am guessing this is just the rolling shell for that price.

Wounder who did all the work, Sportwagen? or Richie?

I am sure Julian will chip in with more details does looking interesting I have to say..Jez the 356 is alot further forward now with it's new work shop to work in so I hope to see some results in the new year looking towards paint.

Lovely work so far and, even with finishing off from this point, still seems a fair price for peace of mind. Perfect stage to mount early 911 trans and an Emery 4 pot and stinger...

It says 99% complete. Wonder what the 1% is.
Seems like a nice project though and a pretty good price.

So in summary the cost seems reasonable.

This of course must give a good idea to people of what the value of a complete very early 356 is still at, which is still quite high.

It would be good to see the finished article as the colour looks quite out of the ordinary and yes it could either end up stock or looking a little bit outlawed (returnable to stock of course!).

Nice later mechanicals and a choice set of rims and the appropriate ride height would be good.

SUBARU IS JUST WRONG, and alien to a normally air cooled car, as for design 90's go stick them on a pimp mobile not one of history's finest, at worst go period hot rod super 90, a tunnel case trans and fifteen inch wheels for practicality or for the very extreme some of those techno magnesio's or even Mc Afee's

I've just had some early 4" 16s banded so that I can run potenza 40s at a decent 6.75" width. Very buff with bead welds scrubbed out and pc'd satin black over my polished drums - not too different to how it looks now really on it's 15s

I sold my 51 coupe bodyshell ,no motor but beautiful black paint
,new cloth headliner ,a brakes and not much else about 8 years ago for ...
£6500 ... oops .
cant seem to open link to see if this is the same car-but darren sold his red on road 51 for about exactly the same money as this one - that also was a bargain but at the time nobody seemed to want it -wierd.
