Engine release broken - help!

Hi all,

Went for the first decent long distance run in my car yesterday (160 miles round trip) and it did pretty well. Noticed a few issues but those can wait.

I went to check the oil this morning to see if it had used any on the trip yesterday and found my engine hatch release doing nothing at all!

Obviously the cable has either snapped or come unhooked somewhere. Whats the best plan for attempting a repair?
