Hello from Hampshire

Post by nrc914 »

Well having been lurking around on here for some time both before and after buying my 914 and wrongly doing an intro on someone else's 'For Sale' thread I thought I had better do it properly!

I live in Alton in Hampshire and when I'm not working from home can be found in Wokingham or Bracknell, Berkshire. I know there are a number of you not too far away and I have known David (Porker914) for quite a number of years.

I have a 944 daily driver which is great but have always liked 914's and whilst not really looking for one ended up buying mine almost on a whim from ebay back in June. It is not MOT'd at the moment and needs several bits of bodywork sorting (that I can see) but seems reasonably solid as well as the exhaust system replacing or repairing as it sounds like a spitfire (the plane not car) when it is started at present!

Here is a pic of the car as it currently stands.

I am hoping to get to the 911 & PW Porsche Picnic event at Wellington Country Park this Sunday (only for a couple of hours first thing though due to family commitments) so will keep an eye out for a few of you and come and introduce myself!

Regards
Nathan

I am aiming to be there at 1000hrs....

Would be nice to get an area set aside, anybody know the organisers.

Would not all the Porsches be together anyway, or are we all going to get mixed up with the normal cars in the car parking......

No they are not mixed up as such the VW are directed to the right and the Porsche to the left.. its all complicated stuff..

But when it comes to the VW part they do manage to organise them selves in their groups as they did have more room last year which was a pain for us guys I have to say as the Porsche side was mixed with public parking and this did start to cause a few problems and worried Porsche owners as boy racers where rally about :?

Uncle Kieth can you point out to the P911W people to shove round abit as it was getting abit tight and I think there will be more Porsche people this year...plus the parking that further out was very bumpy and people spoilers where getting cracked !! see PCGB thread on this...

I'm in Alton so not too far away from you! A hampshire run would be good, although I won't be out in the 914 for some time as I'm trying to get a workshop to rent somewhere near to sort her out! My 944 might look a bit too conspicuous in a convoy of oldies though! Nice looking 912 - obviously a fair weather car then eh ? Will keep an eye out for you all on Sunday but wil only be there a couple of hours as have to get back home before 1pm.

Nope... when you get to know me you will see the 12 out all year round, One memorable trip was to Roger Brays opening of his new workshop I was one of about 3 classic's that turned up due to bad weather.. I was pleased the new tyres did their job as they parted the waves being blown across the Dorset roads even over taking a boxster in rather nasty very heavy rain.. Not the best weather I have to say ..

Yes, we'll (speedster club) be there with club banner & gazebo. Expecting a decent turn out given the forecast. A couple of us are from Hampshire (Basingstoke & Tadley).
