Caveat emptor - I understand that the 'long distance' calipers (7 1/2" wide) will not fit under pre-73 9"+11" Fuchs & Flares which require the smaller 6 1/2" 917 caliper (slightly bigger than a 930 caliper).oliveR wrote: Rare opportunity...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche- ... tors-hat-t

Very nice Mike - do you have a target completion date, or it is just a case of it will be ready when it's ready?

Looking good Mike.
I'd be interested to know what type of banana arms you are using?

Hi Ian, had hoped for CLM this year, but a while ago it was obvious it wasn't to be so taking it easy now. It's worked out for the best so I can get it absolutely right, and it's an ongoing adventure sourcing parts.Ian Donkin wrote:do you have a target completion date, or it is just a case of it will be ready when it's ready?
The plan is complete the rolling chassis and have it wired and finished up on it's wheels by the end of the summer, then concentrate on the engine and box in the autumn to have it running by the end of the year, ready for testing in the spring. Lots of plans for it then, more of that later!
Martin, as for the trailing arms, the car will have two pairs, the ones on it now for fitting up are the 'prototype' pair, converted to carry the calipers on the rear of the hub, then we are making an 'RSR' set which will have the correct rear box section and all the mods. Both pairs will be 'long' versions, as the car is a 72 model.
cheers, Mike.

thanks for asking Mark, been worried about boring everybody to death!
but having said that, it's slow progress as the summer has meant people away and doing other things, so not much getting done at the moment. Still waiting for machining to be finished and pieces to be fabricated to allow me to finish putting together the suspension, then it's just the brakes and lights and it's back on it's wheels again
Most recently been doing the fuel lines with the twin pumps, and had fun with the oil catch tank, which is the old washer bottle as used by the 'werks' cars.

The hunt for parts takes up most of my time, had a great piece of luck the other day with a pair of NOS headlight units which a guy had had in his loft for 30 years. They are the early clear lens 19.20.21 type which the 'werks' cars often ran with sealed beam units in, fitted modern cibie ones at the moment.

Soon as it's up on it's wheels I can trim the inside, lightweight carpet set, rubber mats and RSR doorcards all ready to go in, new steering wheel away being re-trimmed at the moment then will be fitted with the hockey puck horn push. Then it's a question of making up my mind as to trimming the seats. As the drivers seat is a real Rallye Recaro want to keep the original vinyl so will just do the centre's. My current idea is to use the green/blue check which although not used until 74 in road cars, would have been tried and tested in prototypes during 72 and 73. I mocked up a picture to see how they would look, ok with the silver, but might clash a bit with the Martini stripes though, still, good to be different
Expecting a large part very shortly which can go straight in, so more pictures then.
