Another one from NW London

Post by Auf Weidersehen Pete »

Hello DDK

I'm absolutely loving my '72 2.4 E which I was lucky enough to buy from Mr Barry Carter a couple of months ago....

Prior to this i've owned a 3.2 Targa and a '79 SC - both great cars and happily thrashed at trackdays and sprints (the 3.2 could never beat my best time at Goodwood in the 3.0 sc - a wonderful engine). I just love the lightness of the 'E' and with the 'S' spec set up that it currently has, it goes like a rocket...

Here's a pic - look forward to making some aquaintances...

actually, here's the sc as well (my first 911 - before that I zipped about in a Fiat Punto. Never again will i experience such a phenoemal transition)

thanks all! the red E certainly seems to be quite well known on the site...
I saw it advertised, viewed it the next day and bought it on the spot. Barry's restoration thread was superb - by the time i'd read it i was convinced!

I suppose i should also post a pic of the 3.2... here she is (although no longer in my ownership)

Welcome.

Once you get out and about to the various shows and things you'll soon get used to people asking if it is Barry's old car. I have the same 'problem' as I bought his first 911 from a later owner. (must finish the restoration thread on mine though)

Having seen the quality of Barry's workmanship on my car I think I can safely say you got a bargain. Hope to see you at an event soon.

Cheers

James

Just realised your car is the one that inspired me to swap my beetle for the 911T...... Saw it down at the Volksworld Show at Sandown Park, loads of wicked Bugs, but i kept coming back for a look! Was sold by the time i decided i could justify it!!

Hi Pete, sorry, I've only just seen this thread. Anyway, welcome to the forum, delighted you're pleased with the E :) .

As for events, I guess the Fairmile (3rd wednesday evening of the month) would be a good place to start (Fairmile Inn (? I think  ),Cobham, Surrey). During the summer months there's usually a good turnout of DDK regulars.

After that, keep an eye-out in the future events section for what might be cropping up: the Goodwood Breakfast Club (1st sunday of the month) are a regular haunt for many a DDK'er for instance.

See you soon :hello2: .
