Have you put a plug lead directly on the coil, and a plug in it then turned the engine over to check for a spark? Just means that plug will spark 4 times as opposed to a single lead after the dizzy. This should then point directly to the cap/leads/rotor arm if my armchair mechanics serve me right.. :?

Well I have yet to go and buy some parts but I am hopeful I have found the problem..

What's the chance of having TWO duff rotors.. it seams I have.

I have checked every thing poss and it keeps coming back to the rotor and I have checked a number of rotors and all the others and a neighbours car all the rotors show a average 5,000 ohms my one in the car shows.. OL Over Load/Limit and the spare one shows the same..

So it seams I may have this duff duo rotors!! I'm thinking of getting two lottery Tickets for Saturday!!

I called the RAC and they said Oh! is that the burgandy one

so far I have broken down 3 times..

All well out the normal

1 Was a new Pertronic's and it died after 70 miles!! and broke 5 miles from my house

2 A valve guide moved and then smoked out most of Scotland!! then the break down truck broke down 1 mile from my house with me still on the back of it!!

3 last night with the Tipec area main man in the car and it looks like I have had a freek problem with a rotor and a spare one!!

is that my 3 now  PLEASE!!!!!!

no, your right I will have the corner supply of 050's and the parts

I will have 7 caps
10 rotors
10 points
5 condensers

I do have 6 050's so having some spares will be a good idea.. I will look to kit up two of them and sell them later next month..

Should last a week or so

Roger Brays parts arrived and I popped in a Rotor arm and hey presto she fires...

I will have to have a proper go over it as no 4 plug was out and also the disy is not timed in as I put in a different one.. so once all that is sorted I am very confident it will be fine.. Now I have a collection of spares inthe car again..

Because of this I am starting a new sticky in the 912 section for odd breakdowns and the solutions to try and build up a history of interesting faults to look for.. please add what you can. It's only as good as the input from you guys.. 8)

all is not 100% so well

I got the car going only to have it stop again and not start.. This made me check every thing... and then it worked fine.. I then went for a little test drive only to notice the headlights are not working. I just wounder if the rotor going has blown a fuse or taken out the bulbs..

Oh the joy of old cars......
