Carbs on US Ebay

Evening all

The carbs in my 1969 912 need a full refurb I am told. Been on the Super Highway tonight and came across the following auction on Ebay.com

Would these go well in my 912 or should I steer clear?

Personally I'd get a set of new weber 40 idf's or dellorto 40 drla's from this country if you can get hold of them. I know they are still stocked at a few places but stock is starting to dry up. At least if you get some from this country its not such a thrash to sort out any potential problems when they arrive with bits missing (as mine did!) From what I've heard the empi hpmx kits are a copy of the spanish weber 40 idf but being assembled in china they have more quality issues than the spanish ones (which have more quality issues than the original italian ones!) Try www.vwspeedshop.co.uk or stateside tuning for weber/dellorto's. Good luck.

The previous owner of mine cleaned them, not they pop and squeak like a good'un!

Slapping a pair of DRLA 40's on that I had lying around on adaptors from stateside tuning. Bloody expensive for a pair of flat plates though! Might look into getting a bunch made up as they are simple enough, and I'm probably going to need another pair for the 356..

the empi's are cheap copys. i bought a set for a type 3. works but you get what you pay for. look at 160224567303. as these are webers

I sought further advice from Porsche Club GB and have now sent them to the Carburettor Exchange. They reckon I should have back in 6 weeks so I am hoping to make Hedingham Castle this year.

Once I get them back what is the best way to have them tuned? Can most garages of reputable background do it or is it a Porsche specialist job?
