Does anyone know the history of this car?

Hi All

As a long time 356 owner, original 1959 coupe RHD UK car and a 1956 speedster now both sold I am getting the bug again and i like the look of this car, Maxted Page sold my speedster and I know Andy Prill so i think the car is good, but just wondered if anyone knows a little more about this car, they want top money for it but alot has been spent.

Yes it's Pauls car. I followed Paul to Classic Le Mans in it last time and I struggled to keep up with it. ( That said I did find later I had only 70% full throttle on my car )

It's been a well built car with all the right people working on it. Sportwagen and Andy at Maxed Page and Prill.

It's set up as a race car but from what I remember it has never seen a race track other than parked next to one at CLM.

Paul who owns the car is Defender47 on here, but I am sure Andy at Max Page and Prill will give you the full low down on the car. It's a nice car.. I am sure we can all dig out some photo's of the car at events.

As this is not an original GT, but specced up to one do guys think it is worth the money(just short of 60k)

I do realise these cars cost a lot to build to this spec.

Just another question to you guys as you know the car, I have a 1973 911 T that kicks out about 140bhp and wondered how this little bug would compare in performance?

With any car it's what some one is willing to pay for it.

The spec does denote the price with the work that has been carried out.

I am sure Paul could offer some photo's of the car from when the project started to what is it now. I know the engine is a full rebuild. AS you say the cost to do the work V one that's already been done.

You only have to look at the Dollar rate v UK pound to see there are some bargains to be had out there in the US.... but then you would have to do all the work above to get the car well sorted and then you could well be over the asking price of the car in question. Plus some time later as well..

Just under 60k seems like crazy money to me. I'm sure if you wait you could find an owner restored car that is completed to a high standard for a lot less. Nickt sold his 59 black outlaw coupe for 25k last year and that car was completed to a very high standard. Also 356boys A was a great little car for 30k. I'm sure this car will sell and when it does it will probably be a world record for a pushrod A coupe.

Yes I have to say that NickT's car was the bargain of the centry I really likes that car, a GT look alike and done very well.

nice car but 60k is to much i think, it really took me a long time to sell my 'A', i didnt even get anyone from this country to view it and for 30k with absolutly no filler was to cheap. heres one for 45000 euro which i think is a good price and in beautifull colurs at http://home.mobile.de/BMC, and its a matching number car, its where i bought my preA from, 1.5 hour flight to berlin with ryanair and you can drive it back via the wolfsburg factory.

its 20k cheaper, you can see in the 2nd and 3rd pic down, behind is the glass rooms which are heated and on 2 levels where you can pay monthly to store your car, its in an old tram station

no idea on the value of 356's but I've ridden in Paul's car and its very nippy indeed, would give my old 911E a run for its money...

i'm not slating pauls car it looks very nice a has had the correct people on it but i think maybe the ones i've listed are slighty better value for money, good luck with the sale though
