New Lassie from Lancashire

Post by VG65 »

Hi –I’ve been loitering around on DDK for a few months but thought I’d wait until I found a car before I introduced myself.

My name is Vicki and I live in the wonderful North of England and I’ve just bought my first Porsche, a 1971 911T – (I'll post some decent pictures soon) The more I get to know and research these cars, the more I realise how much I don’t know! However, DDK members seem like a friendly & approachable lot and I’m literally 4 miles away from MB engineering, so I hope help is at hand when I start to ask very ‘green’ questions.

I blame my passion for Porsches entirely on my brother DDK member ‘Burma-Shave’ – in fact he has a lot to answer for sending me the link for the car I now own. Also buying me one of the James Schrager books last year and writing on the inside cover, ‘For the beginning of your journey, as one of the faithful. There is much to be learned, and only some of it is about Porsches’ – how true. :)

I hope to tag along on the Welsh tour and was also wondering how often the Northern DDKers got together?.....
Cheers,
Vicki.

Hi Vicki - welcome to DDK !

Don't worry about appearing 'green' over asking any questions - I can honestly say that I can't ever remember anyone being criticised or made to feel stupid about asking any question whatsoever.

If you're planning on joining us on the Welsh Tour I'd advise checking on the availablity of hotel accomodation if you haven't already done so as there weren't many rooms still available (although there are other 'overspill' hotels nearby).

Hi :)

Good to see 'Burma Shave' pushed in you in the right direction & made you get an early Porsche .... thats just what Brothers are for

We try & have a get together of Northern DDK'ers every month, although this month we don't really have anything organised  We tend to keep things relaxed, so don't have a set date or place where we meet. I keep things flexible so sometimes the meet might be over on the east, and others over towards the west :)

I have some drives & meets planned when the weather improves so keep an eye out on here :)

Hi Vicky. Are you married?

Welcome – but be careful of that northern lot. They speak funny.

Welcome Vicky, good to have you on board, DDK'ers are pretty harmless but if you need to know which ones to avoid you can always ask me, I'm as safe as houses!

:P another girlie.....hooray.

welcome Vicki, please don't worry about asking questions, this lot rather enjoy answering them. although they might take the pee out of you once they get to know you.. but, thats half the fun.

hope to meet you at one of the northern meets some time soon. and if you enjoy driving then definatly make sure you come along to wales. there is nothing better than being part of a 30plus convoy of pre1973 cars :P .

Never heard of her. I think its a Nigerian scam...she even nicked pictures of Nick Moss's car to do it. Honestly..

I agree - you only get a hint with the avatar.
I'm really eager to show 'her' off and will take some as soon as I can. With the gale force winds and driving rain we are currently experiencing up North she aint coming out of the garage for no-one. :)
Cheers,
Vicki.
