Ah! right.
I have never had to remove that.
But it would IMHO be worth finding a careful local man who has oxy to help you here..
heat always work: its imprtant to repeat the cyle..heat, lube, heat lube, heat lube..then allow it all to cool before applying the spanners..
For some reason paraffin wax seems to be really good for this sort of job..head studs etc too..the ally likes it I think!
Kind regards
david

I've done a bit more research & thanks to Mike bainbridge I now understand how this nut works
The outlet on the tank is a male fitting & the outlet on the thermostat is a male fitting with the nut having 2 female threads, one left & one right. An aluminium olive then fits between the tank & the thermostat & the nut pulls the two together.
So in theory I can cut the nut exactly down the middle without rick of damaging the threads on the the thermo or the tank.
I have checked with Porsche and the nut is available @ about £20 + the olive at around £8. The Thermostat housing is NLA.
I'm going to try & undo the nut & if I have no joy I'll cut off the nut.

Hello there.
Don't hesitate..cut it.
Its easy to weaken the wall so that it then splits with a sharp cold chisel..I use a hand saw, and or file, in this sort of ticklish situation..
Cutting on a sort of spiral is usually necessary bescaue of access problems..works well..be pateint and all will be well..
Good luck!
