GS 1100 BMW wanted !!

Post by Cortina »

Thought this was worth a try , knowing that some of our readers have the odd two wheeler tucked away !!
I am on the look out for something of the 1998 or 1999 vintage - colour and mileage not important (within reason !!) ... I want to ride it , not admire it.
Let me know if you have one to part with, or know of anything ... ta !!

John Deacon (1962 – August 9, 2001) was a Motorcycle enduro racer. He had won several Paris Dakar Rally stages. He died as a result of head injuries sustained when his BMW bike flipped, 77 miles from the town of Palmyra during the seventh stage of the Masters Rally between France and Jordan. He was lying third in the event at the time.

He won the British Enduro four-stroke championship on ten occasions and won nine gold medals at the ISDE event. He first contested the Paris-Dakar in 1997, becoming only the second British rider to finish the three-week, 7,000-mile event across Africa on a motorcycle. Within two years, and still funding his own participation, he claimed his country's best finish of sixth, beaten by five riders who enjoyed substantial financial backing.

It's a 500. I worked and lived in India for almost 2 years , this was my daily transport (complete with 3rd set of footrests !!) It's "parked" out there at present , and the plan is to go out and ride it home ! .... just not sure when. (brand new including 15 years road tax - they call life time , and a years comp insurance for £1150 ... hmm)

Get in there quickly if you want a new traditional Bullet - they're about to be phased out in favour of newer, Euro 4 compliant engines. The end of an era! We shipped ours from Bombay to Marsilles, then rode them back from there... many moons ago now!
