912 67 rhd history query

Post by elliot »

Hi,

This may be a longshot but does anybody here know anything about the history of my 67 rhd 912. The current reg number is 15 VMG, although it may not have started it's life with that number. The chassis number is 335059 first registered 25.04.1967, the original colour was Bahama yellow 6605. I know the cars history from about 1991/2 but nothing before that. It appears to have been taken off the road in 1987 after a very hard life. I don't know why but I just have a hankering to know a little more about the cars history. I've been told there were only about 50 UK spec rhds, so I'm hoping someone may be able to help

Thanks in advance, Brian.

I assume you have written to DVLA to get the history they have on file. It usually brings up previous owners that maybe still contactable. The Kithead Trust may be able to help, they saved a lot of DVLAs records when they were throwing them away in the 70s.

...The Kithead Trust ...

Can someone pls give me contact details for these guys ?
I wrote to DVLA several years ago for details of my UK delivered '71 S but the plate number didnt compute in their records. :(
Mark Waring later told me that DVLA 'lost' some of their records of that era.

TIA
Dennis. :)

You have to write to them at De Salis Drive, Hampton Lovett, Droitwich Spa, Worcs, WR9 0QE, they don't like people phoning them.
They require a cheque of £7.50 for each registration mark they search for as well as a stamped addressed envelope.
For an extra £3.00 they can give you a list of other places known to hold other records as well as what they hold.
Hope this helps with your searches. :)

Sounds like you might have a copy of the logbook. Does it not have people's names and addresses?
