wiper woes

Post by louis356 »

Drove my car to work the other day pi55ing it down. switching wipers off and they just went FASTER Wowh! I managed to get them to stop by pressing the stalk forward.

Then got to within 5 miles and the wipers stopped working!! just standing upright in the middle of the screen. Smelt burning!!

Got to work eventually by stopping and wiping the screen. Checked to see the damage and thought about calling the AA. then I checked the fusebox, yup, wiper fuse blown. it was time to go home and after a dry day the heavens opened up again!! so I swapped some fuses around to get me home luckly.

Has anyone:
A. removed the wiper switch and have any tips?
B. cleaned/checked what am I looking for/cleaning?
C. will I have to get another one for a '66?

They work now with a new fuse but......?

all i did when mine was in bits was to clean the contacts and put it all back.

when it speed up I though oh thats waiting for a fuse to blow sorry about the bad luck..

this rain is depressing at the mo I will grant you that esp if your using it all the time as your main car...

hope you get it sorted mate..
