Headlight change to euro spec

Theres an old guy local to me who has a 912 that i've been helping him sort a few things on.

His car is fitted with the US spec headlights (those with the thick rims) and he is wanting to change them to the euro spec with the narrow rims like mine.

Are these lights available - what exactly do we need - and how much is it likely to cost?

I seem to remember reading about this before - am i right in thinking you can use pre67 beetle lights?

Any help or info would be much appreciated

European style H4 headlights are a direct swap for the US sealed beam units. Thay are available new from all the usual Porsche parts suppliers.

VW lights are different as they have a mounting tab at the bottom, where the Porsche units mount is through the rim

I got mine lights from Euro Car Parts and I think they were about £70 each (3 years ago).

shop about even places like Euro car parts.. and if I can get into my shed no 3 I prob have a pair of used ones.

will do I know one set has a few little bits missing rubber bits nothing that can't be remade..

Any contact details? I'm going to have to change my USA spec lights for H4 before we attempt the 2008 Cape to Cape.

Interesting that my 912 has USA sealed beams, even after some time in Southern France...and I thought sealed beams were illegal in France!
