I've started to strip down the 911 ready for restoration but as of yet haven't got to the removal of all the interior. I know that you ned to remove the aluminium targa cover before you can take out the back window, but I'm currently at a lose as how to do this.
One thing I have noticed is how similar a stripped 911 is to a VW Type 3, expecially a Fastback.
Any help would be much welcome.

Hi,
Once you have the rubber seal removed you should see that there is a series of small screws that hold the stanless to the main targa hoop. Undo these. There is also two (each side) bolts that hold the ends of the hoop cover to the top of the wings. (10mm from memory) I got at these with a very long extension from under the car.
There also some trim nuts (8mm) under the wing that hold the chrome trim to the top if the rear wing. You may want to undo these whilst you are down there as the strip may break when you remove the screws from the top and try to remove the trim with these still fitted
Good luck
If you want to take a look at how one goes back together, mine is only in Leicester, in the process of putting these bits back
I can also try to take photos
Cheers
Tim
