Babyseat anyone?

HI all,

Our youngest has now grown out of her babyseat, (remember Hazel?) so it's available. They've been discontinued now according to Quickfit SBS and are "in demand" as a result. It's a Mama's and Papa's futura and does definitely fit into the rear seat of a early 911, therefore it will fit in any 911 with the correct belt. Quickfit fitted it and the belts will come with it. It suits from approx 9 months to 3 years (depending on size of child I assume) Apparently these little suckers are gold dust as according to Stuart at Quickfit SBS they are the only seats which they recommend as being the best fit.

It's free to a DDK member and those that know me know I wouldn't offer it it it had any issue at all. I will ebay it after a wait unless anyone has any other suggestions.

B*gger - wish I'd spotted this earlier

I am after one of those seats for my 911. Our son is now 4 months old so planning ahead to install rear belts and find a seat that will fit- oh well Ebay it is, though might have a go in the Wanted section now, just never occured to me to look for one on here

Hi,

Slight change of hijacking of thread but has anyone found something suitable for the 5-6 year old age group. I think the Maxi Cosi Rodi has been mention but when I tried it was too wide to sit right back into the seat depression. Does the shape of the rear seat change between years?

PS. Neil the seat size does change from 71-72 when the 915 gearbox was introduced.

Hi Guys
I am a little unsure how the law stands but for my kids 4 & 5 1/2 years I have fitted 4 point harnesses in the rear,they work very well offering a lot of support and the kids love them.There is however quite a lot of work involved in fitting them.The type I've fitted have a cross piece(webbing) which holds the two straps together,much better for the little ones.

Hi,

From my reading of Department for Transport website, just harnesses are not legal, there has to be an approved “Child Restraint” or alternatively if there are no seatbelts fitted they can just sit there unrestrained!
There is a note about Seat belt adjusters being a substitute if they are type approved to ECE 44.03 (not just tested to). I haven’t found any yet, does anyone know anything about this?

Hi Neil,

the maxi cosi rodi does fit, not the Xp or anything else just the rodi. Also discontinued now but Halfords have them online.

Glad to hear that Hazeys seat will have a DDK life, She's a porsche babe allready.

One of the main reasons the wife agreed to my 70 Targa was the small back seats for my 3 year old. I'd say the seats are just about the right size for her without a booster seat but the belts only hold around the waist, not over the shoulder (2 rather than 3 point). Mine is a US car but is this standard? If so has anyone converted to a 3 point belt or 4 point harness and what is involved?

The legal side also seems a little cloudy!!

It's fair to say the 4 point belts in the back for the kids is not 'legal' however no belts is....

As it's my job to look after these things I would argue the safety point all the way if challenged

I have just fitted 4 points (well actually three) in the back of my 911. I used a Sabelt 'road' harness with a conventional buckle. The road buckles are harder to undo than turnbuckles for little hands so have an advantage in that respect.

I looped both shoulder straps onto one upper mounting so they would be closer together. Using it as a straight 4 point the shoulder straps were too wide apart for little shoulders.

You will find that kids still need a booster as the lap strap will sit on their stomach rather than across the top of the legs (and hence pelvis)

I have made a firm cushion to fill to seat well and boost my 5 year old son into the correct position. I tried the other side with my nearly 4 year old daughter but she is too thin and it just didn't sit correctly. She will have to wait a while before she gets to go in the back with her brother.

The upper anchorage was simple, just a 7/16 unf size hole near the back of the parcel shelf and with a nut and spreader plate below.

If you are in any doubt at all about the belts or positioning on your kids then take your other car

I am thinking long term that I will have to fit a 4 point harness in the back like my Dad did with me as a kid..

I to would be more than happy to argue the point as a 4 point in the rear for kids is perfect with a booster cushion. Much safter than a seat flapping about and higher then it needs to be..

I have rear belts from a 993 fitted + I uses a maxi cosi-rodi booster seat & back bit for my 5 year old. The 993 belt will need to be extended though as my daughter gets older as it is not very long

Problem I have is the seat is quite upright so when she falls asleep she tends to end up leaning out of the seat / belt

My 2 year old still uses a full baby seat which I think is a britax freeway
