tool kit

Hi all,


I remember seeing a post about this ages ago - I've had a good search, but it's like a needle in a haystack!

Basically, am wondering what you would recommend as a a basic toolkit for a '67 912? Obviously the list is probably endless, and I have various tools in my garage, but it would be good to know what you guys would recommend as a basic standard.

Following on from this, I wondered what spares are useful to carry when traveling - I've got bulbs, but again, I remember seeing a post mentioning belts and a few other things...

Any help is appreciated.

I always keep the original tool kit with my '12 - but also a C spanner should the belt snap, a spare toothed belt, spare distributor cap and rotor, plugs and fuses.

All depends how far I'm going!!

Thanks Ian. I've just been through my original Drivers Manual and can see what the tool kit contents would have been. Is there any specification for these tools, or are they all pretty standard? I've seen mention of replica tool kits but I imagine these would be pretty pricey too, and I would be better putting my own together...

tool kits do go for big money relative to what they are!

the guide to authenticity book lists what was included in each year tool kits.

I carry quite a lot of tools with me, incl full socket set, range of spanners from 8mm to 19mm, a breaker bar for wheel nuts, a scissor jack, a hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, c-spanner for belt etc etc .. All in a nice hard wearing tool bag that fits behind one of the seats or under teh bonnet ( although it is a fair weight & can slide around here ). Also carry a tyre pump with me when I remember.

Of course, wether I know what to do with them is another subject
